Dear Parents and Grandparents of LCA Students, We are living at a time like no other in recent history. Your teachers and I met this morning to chart our course for the next two weeks. We are going to continue to teach our children but it will look different. On Saturday, March 21st, I will be opening LCA from 10:00 - 4:00 for parents or students to come and pick-up textbooks. They will be stacked on their desks or classroom tables by homerooms. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten will have packets/booklets for you to pick-up. First Grade through High School will have their textbooks and assignments. You will have a letter from the teacher(s) with the textbooks. The teachers will be contacting you daily or as often as you wish to give directions or answer questions. We must continue to educate our children the best way we can while complying with the requests of our elected officials and working to keep everyone safe. Let me add at this point, the work for all grades is not optional. We have High Schoolers who must complete the work for credits and younger students who must continue to learn and not lose ground. As the Headmaster, I will be making myself available to you for tutoring or one-on-one teaching, as needed. I will be keeping "office" hours Tuesday - Thursday, 9:00 - 3:00. Outside of those hours, please call me for an appointment and I will come up to school. On Mondays, from 9:00-12:00, the Jr. High and Senior High teachers will be at LCA to work with any students needing assistance. There will also be several elementary teachers who will make themselves available during this time period. After 4:00 on Saturday, March 21st, I will be reaching out to homes who were unable to come get textbooks/assignments. We can make arrangements for a special pick-up. Thank you for your understanding as we attempt to make a surreal situation as normal as we can for our children and families. Blessings to all... Your Servant, Dr. Alice Smith |
